A high ranking prince of the Royal House of Saud had commissioned the French architect and interior designer, Michel Béquin, to design one of his residences in Riyadh. Working together with Béquin, Kalmar was commissioned for the design development of two major pieces: the staircase chandelier with a skylight and a long chandelier over the dining table.

In both cases Béquin used twisted glass arms – for the staircase he combined it with bronze metal to form a classical arrangement and for the dining room it was combined with a polished Nickel metal carrier. The satin and crystal arms were interspersed with coloured crystals.
